USA made a very interesting move last week. All three of the shows moved to the 10 PM timeslot. Previously, USA had focused on few days of the week, choosing to put their shows together. Now it looks like they are trying to expand their programming into the other weekdays. Given their recent successes, it isn’t a bad idea if they continue to give us the same quality programming. The ratings the past few years and especially over this summer have proved that the network can hold up against broadcast programming. The move of White Collar to its own separate day surprised me. It had previously been scheduled to go after Burn Notice on Thursdays which would have helped greatly since Burn Notice made Royal Pains an instant hit. Based on the current ratings, White Collar may not be able to survive on its own, so it will be interesting to see if the freshman show can survive on a new night with tougher competition. Before reading the list, keep these facts in mind. This is my personal list, so there will be things you disagree about.|On 17 January 2014, a teaser trailer of the new series was released on the BBC’s YouTube channel, and across BBC Television. Review: Richard Hammond is on the shores of Lake Como with a new Alfa Romeo. Clarkson is in the genteel surroundings of Bruges to test a new breed of hybrid hypercar. Clarkson reviews the McLaren P1 in Belgium, then he drives it around the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps racetrack, noting how powerful and basic the car is. Feature: James travels to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan to look at some of the military vehicles used by the British Forces and how they are being brought back to the UK. Star in a Reasonably Priced Car: Tom Hiddleston drove in very wet conditions, he managed a 1.49.9 in the Vauxhall Astra Tech Line. 163 3 Series 21, Episode 3 Zenvo STI Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May demonstrate their love for compact, small-engined cars with a trip to Ukraine. Vasily Ignatenko (Adam Nagaitis) rapidly progresses across a series of symptoms, taking him from a man who can walk and embrace his wife Lyudmilla (Jessie Buckley) with a smile on his face to being trapped inside a body rapidly deteriorating. The sequence inside a quarantined hospital area, with Vasily in his final moments, is a marriage of craft and human emotion also anchored by Buckley’s performance. The scene that finds Lyudmilla saying goodbye to her husband was the scene the actress auditioned with. Even in that sterile, pre-production environment, performing the scene by herself, Buckley was still able to locate the power of the scene. “She made me cry in that terrible room and I just thought, ‘We’re going to be fine.’ There’s something about her that you can’t fake. The HBO mini-series, Chernobyl, began this past weekend. It’s a dark story of the multiple human errors—in execution and far more important, in judgement—that resulted in the greatest civilian nuclear disaster in human history. Some might think that Chernobyl is another Hollywood-generated anti-nuclear power film a la « China Syndrome, » but the creator of the film, Craig Mazin, disagrees. He tweeted: “The lesson of Chernobyl isn’t that modern nuclear power is dangerous. Hmmm. « Lying, arrogance, and suppression of criticism. » I can think of one group that has trafficked in those things over the past few years. Spare me the argument that crazies like Alex Jones are representative of the people who have been censored/banned. Ironically, the same group that traffics in « lying, arrogance, and suppression of criticism » is a collection of minor league communist wannabes who think that the state can and should control our lives and the narrative in all things. Just like the party apparatus that was in place during Chernobyl, the wannabes think the narrative trumps all. And just like the party apparatus that existed when Chernobyl happened, they are dangerous.|Game of Thrones may be over, but HBO’s top-reviewed show is still running. These scores are based of user reviews, which seem to skew towards HBO dramas and nature documentaries. If you’re worried that these numbers could be skewed by disappointed Game of Thrones fans trying to embarrass the show’s co-creators by boosting another HBO series, you can rest assured this isn’t some bizarre case of reverse review bombing. A quick look at the reviews reveal a real passion for both the show and the history it’s based on. It’s not a documentary, so not each and every detail is accurate, yet I would still call it authentic. The creators got the important stuff right… Both of my parents worked at Chernobyl plant, I grew up hearing stories and versions of what happened. I think this show is the best depiction of the Chernobyl disaster and the stories of its victims. This show is to remind all of us of the cost of lies. Plenty of other reviews cite personal experience, a parent or spouse who experienced Chernobyl and who’s story matches up with HBO’s show. Others simply note how powerful the miniseries is. “I’ll never love this show but I will forever have had my eyes opened by it,” writes stephenpdodds. Beyond the somewhat surprising news that a brand new HBO miniseries is dominating IMDb’s TV charts, there’s a few other interesting details here. HBO clearly dominates with four shows in the top 10. Aside from Breaking Bad, the rest of this list if all nature or space documentaries, which makes sense considering the incredible popularity Planet Earth and the many shows it inspired. Going a bit further down the list, you’ll find Rick and Morty in 12th, making it IMDb’s top-rated cartoon series. Chernobyl 6 Episode.
The radiation levels became dangerous, fast, spreading throughout Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. Think 400 times the amount dropped on Hiroshima during World War II. How did the evacuation process take place? Soviet officials were slow to announce the situation to the general public and spearhead evacuation efforts, leading to speculations of incompetence as well as a cover-up. Firefighters first came in to quell the fire, but military helicopters later came to drop in sand and lead to contain the radiation. Thirty-six hours later, evacuation efforts began, and eventually, 120,000 people fled from the exclusion zone with a 19-mile radius. Officials remained tight-lipped until Swedish scientists reported high levels of radiation from 800 miles away. This pushed the USSR to make an emergency announcement on April 28, though officials were evasive about the details. By November, the government installed a hastily built sarcophagus to contain the radiation exposure, though its poor construction would later require a more permanent solution.
